About flattening a PDF
Flattening renders every page as an image and rebuilds the PDF from those images. That removes interactive form fields and annotations, so the content can no longer be edited as fields.
Use it to lock in filled-in form answers or make a document look the same everywhere. Because pages become images, the text in a flattened PDF is no longer selectable and the file may be larger.
